so, a few friends of mine want to know why i am not going through with the prefects' probation. since it is so very difficult to explain while talking, i shall explain here since it gives me more time to think about how i should phrase the sentences.
but before i begin, i just want all you prefects/probationary prefects to know that whatever i say is not meant to offend any of you. i honestly do think that prefects are necessary in our school, because, school would be terribly chaotic without them.
however
i think that the prefects in our school particularly, are given a bit too much power (even though you may not realise it). some of the prefects have told me that prefects are like policemen. well i think one thing that is unlike a policemen's job is the fact that the prefects themselves collect the fine money. when a policeman gives you a summon, he issues the ticket and then we go elsewhere to pay it. so you get what i mean.
also, i think the fine money is a bit too much. some rich asses who don't know the value of money may think that it is not a large amount, but when you think about it, it is. for example, forgetting to bring our blazer and tie on a formal day. i mean, we forget. we cannot help that we forget. it is not our will to forget. so we have to pay rm7 because, say, we have a lot on our mind. perhaps we have too much homework? perhaps our scores are dropping, perhaps we have mental illnesses (people in this country seem extremely oblivious to how many people are actually suffering from it)? so for that, if we have to buy lunch in school, we don't get lunch. this is just an example. and i seriously don't want to be the person to have to do this to someone. a lack of food can cause people to get tired, unalert and a disability to concentrate. the teachers might scold them, their grades might drop further and that could, in turn exacerbate their mental illness. lol.
and if anyone in the school happens to read this, you should take this as advice, not criticism, because it could really help in building up the school.
hokay. another reason. i'm going to study in australia in 2009. i will try to get into a public school. which in australia means a private school. and as we know, prefects spend a lot of time missing class. the results that i get these two terms are crucial in order for me to get in. if i become a probate, i will miss class and i'm already struggling as it is so i don't want to make the condition worse.
and another thing. our rules are stupif. no way in hell am i going to enforce rules that i myself don't think make any sense. and of course, as a prefect i would want to bend the rules a little bit if i think reasonable, but then i would get fired. and i'd rather be in the position i currently am in than be a pengawas dipecat.
